Throughout the novel The marvellously life of Oscar Wao many of the characters suffer and baffle personal experiences with the fuku. Oscars family suffers from the crime and each of the characters experiences are all told related nates to one a nonher, not just in the hardships that they endure further also how they deal with it by silencing and stowing away their pain, toilsome to move on in their day to day lives barely the past is what keeps the family from progressing. The turn of events for Abelard, Belicia, Lola, La Inca, and Oscar, and even Yunior are all related and intertwined in the novel and Yunior writes of them all relating back to the fuku, . nonetheless I do not agree that it is the fuku, rather I think it is poor choices the individuals in the family have made. The past continues to doctor the families present and future.
Abelard, who had his first experiences with the Fuku when he was ordered to surrender his missy to Trujillo and refused. Abelards life was good before his situation with Trujillo he had his daughters, Lydia, his job.



When he refused to bring his daughter to Trujillo he was imprisoned, his writings destroyed, his daughters enigmatically murdered (Jacquelyn found dead at the bottom of a pool, Astrid killed by a stray bullet while praying at church). Such horrendous events occurred after Abelard refused his daughter to Trujillo is it a curse or is it just bad on Abelard part. Looking at it from my point of view Abelard could have given Trujillo Jacquelyn and both of his daughters and him would have still been alive, he would still be a set-apart man. Abelards pride and manhood and fatherly instincts however could not stand for such a dishonorable request.
