In this endeavor the characteristics of Hallys become and father will be discussed as well as whether his evokes should truly be described as his parents

The first time we hear about hallys arrive is when he arrives at the coffee shop after take aim and does his homework. Hally is in a happy mood, talking to Sam and ???, hardly when his mother phones his mood changes. Suddenly hally is upset and angry with his mother and father, and he takes his feelings out on Sam and Willie.

His mother is pictured as a woman who people walk over. She does non stand up for herself. She takes orders form Hally and from her husband, she will do whatever her husband asks of her, eventhough she knows it is non the right thing to do. She is non a very good role model for Hally. She is not a mother in the sense of the word, Hally is the one she phones when she her husband is openhanded her problems, Hally goes to the coffee shop after school to check on it while his mother is at the hospital, he takes the blame for everthing that goes wrong.

Hallys father is not someone Hally can look up to. He is an alcoholic, when he does not get his alcohol he is a really difficult person to live with. He needs alcohol to stay carry on.

Hally does not have respect for his father, he feels that his father does not deserve respect because he does not listen to anybody and cares single about himself. Hallys father did not raise Hally, he gave him food, a place to stay and garments but he never listened to him, talked to him, or love him. The only person Hally received this from is Sam, the only person Hally truly looks up to.
