Idealism and Materialism in Common Sense

Written at the beginning of the Revolution, Thomas Paines popular Sense became a driving force and motivated the colonists to transplant their determination for Americas independence. In this political leaflet Paine both attests that there are natural adepts everyone is entitled to and draws a sharp line between society and government. In doing so Paine also divides himself into a pre-Revolution idealist and a Revolutionary materialist. This participation between the idealist and materialistic perspective follows Paine through the sum of his work.
Paine declares that the time to form a Continental union is at once and that changes need to be made that will non simply affect the present but also future generations.
