Ben Mann Personal Essay In action there are legion(predicate) people who inspire me or who I look up to, but there is single person who is a unbent inspiration. Patrick PJ Shanahan a very close family friend who was shot on vacation with his family this August. PJ is a teacher at Suffield Academy in CT. He survived the shooting but was paralyzed from the waist down. in the beginning PJ was shot he was a person that everyone loved. He was always smiling, had a great attitude about life, and loved to help oneself people out. After the shooting this did not change. He was released from Spalding infirmary in Boston, MA September 8, and returned to his home at Suffield Academy. to begin with he left the rehab center, he had to relearn how to do everything, zero for him would be the same. The simple things in life that we take for granted he would now find challenging. Most people in his case would completely give up, but not PJ. versed you will never be able to walk, stand, run, or ricochet again PJ still has the same attitude about life. He takes everything day by day and knows that it already happened and there is zero point he can do about it so wherefore not enjoy life. He is still living and endures to elate his wife and daughter everyday and knows that the out serve of the shooting could wealthy person been so much worse.

PJs favorite saying is, it is what it is he has always said this even before the shooting and that is what he lives by. I believe that no matter how bad the initial consequence is everything happens for a reason. Some good will come out of this, whether it is him parcel other paralyzed people, or helping kids learn what guns can do to you. In the last duo months after seeing what he has been through and how much his life is going to change I look at everything differently. The low-down little aches and pains that we complain about are zero point compared to what PJ has to deal with for the rest of his life.
